Designed for mountain bike lovers — Occam Silver
Imagine a bike that can be ridden in any terrain. The Occam Silver is a special bike that does just that. In terms of performance and capability, it fits nicely between the Alma and the Rallon. The Diamond Link rear suspension provides 123mm of dynamic air-sprung travel, tunable for any trail conditions. The Occam is perfect for marathon events as it offers this ample travel in a racy, lightweight package. The Alma hardtail DNA is there, but so is the tough-as-nails attitude of the Rallon. The Occam is agile and efficient on the climbs, yet it makes sparks fly on the descents.
It is this versatility that will make you change the way you think about mountain bikes. Using our Advanced Dynamics technology, we designed the Occam’s Diamond Link rear suspension to absorb bump impacts while simultaneously allowing a fluid pedaling motion to put your power to the ground. This is what makes it climb so well. The Diamond Link shapes the suspension rate to allow the suspension to respond easily to small bumps, yet it provides a firm, coil-like feel so that standing efforts against the pedals result in explosive forward motion. The system is anchored by a sturdy 28mm bearing on the main pivot, and sealed cartridge bearings at every pivot ensure smooth performance.
The Occam features a concentric pivot between the seatstays and chainstays. We call it C9-12, and it uses a convertible dropout system that comes configured for quick release rear hubs. An optional Maxle dropout kit is available that can accommodate 12x142mm rear hub configurations. Aside from the adaptability, the concentric pivot allows the separation of braking forces from the rear suspension. The seatstay acts as a brake floater, letting the swingarm cycle freely through the travel range. This system offers a performance advantage, especially noticeable under heavy braking through braking bumps or root covered trails. You'll be able to ride faster and harder into corners, confident that you'll have optimum braking traction to get slowed down and get through the turns faster and safer.
We use our Orbea Silver Carbon and Monocoque technology to guarantee strength and durability in the Occam main triangle. It's built as a one-piece structure with carbon fibers running continuously through each of the tube intersections. This allows the natural stresses of hard riding to be distributed over greater areas of the structure, minimizing chance for failure. Our Monocoque technology also gives us the freedom for design innovation so that we can create a high performance trail bike that is unmistakably Orbea.
The Orbea Occam Silver uses our Downtube Cable Highway routing system to ensure optimum performance and to complement the sleek design of the frame. The Occam comes with a custom-valved Fox RP23 rear air shock and can be built with a 120 or 140mm fork depending on your riding preferences. The Occam is pure mountain enjoyment.
